Hi I'm one of those baby boomers who is not yet old enough to retire. I have been an “off and on” again photographer for the past 35 years,and have only recently succumbed to the age of the digital camera, but I already love it. My wife, Jenny, and I live just 4km out of Kaitaia in the real Far North of New Zealand. We have recently built a new home on a hill that gives 360 deg views of the countryside where it is wonderful to watch the changing weather patterns and cloud formations.
Along with the outstanding sunrises and sunsets, these scenes have dominated my photography for the last 2 years. I currently use a Canon D1000 entry level SLR with Canon zooms and lens that I had with my 35mm camera. My wife and I are to open up our home to “bed and breakfast” guests in the next 2 months, in time for the summer season.
So come and visit us with your camera, you will
be amazed at the different cloud and sunrises and
sunsets up here. With the wonderful native bush walks
nearby and the beaches of the Far North you will find
plenty to enjoy.
