The Salvation Army

During the recent floods in July 2007 in the Kaitaia township and surrounding area, the Salvation Army set-up and ran a welfare centre at the Kaitaia College using their staff and volunteers for three days. They provided hot food, somewhere to sleep and comfort for the flood victims.

Two weeks after the floods they then put on the first of a planned three dinners at the local Community Hall for those people who went through this traumatic event.

The following photos are only few in number but they give an indication of the task the Salliies turned their hands to in a time of great need......
