Anne Wasmuth studied art as a teenager in Auckland at AIT and Elam, and in later years left the city for a rural lifestyle, returning to art work via a three year diploma course with TLC in Wellington.
She has been painting landscapes in oils inspired by various areas north of Dargaville near where she lives, as well as water-colour pencil interpretations of some of the historic photographs in the Northwood Collection of FarNorthPhoto.
Anne finds that some objects or landscapes inspire a deeper resonance or meaning, and her paintings are an interpretation of this subjective experience of the subject matter, with colour being an important means of expression.
